Seven Ways from Sunday

I guess I’ll address Meditations first.  I have run into a strange section of Discovering Fire.  Apparently, there is a resurgence of Psychedelics in various parts of the country.  Out of curiosity, I searched for psychedelic drugs in Google and found many references, including one from Harvard Health Publishing  that agree, somewhat, with the book.  From what I read, I don’t think it will be something that affects me any time soon.

Next up is Memoirs, I guess.  Jim is trying to rope me into his Ancestry researches.  Apparently, he needs help badly.  Since he’s been concentrating on the Pearson side, I looked at the Moore side first.  It was a mess.  Before I can look backward on Mama, I find that I need to straighten out her generation.  I’m still trying to sort out the fact that he forgot Uncle Willard was married twice and three of his children were from the first marriage.  He had them all listed under Aunt Theda, in spite of the fact that she was only 7 years old when the oldest one was born.  I’m trying to find more information on his first wife and get his record straightened out.  Jim says it’s addictive.  We’ll see.  So far, it just seems frustrating to me.

Finally, Health and Exercise.  I’m going to try to follow my workout schedule this week.  I’m still refining it, but the skeleton is there.  Since this is the first full week of no school pickups, today is the first day of my current lifestyle.  Today, is Yoga and I’ve set it up for an afternoon session with some of my videos.  Tomorrow will be walking since I’ll be going into town for the photo club lunch.

It’s kind of strange that we still call it that although the photo club was disbanded before that pandemic and topics of discussion at the luncheon are more about trains, sports, and general gossip than photography nowadays.  As for photography, I watched a video that Jim shared on the old photo club Facebook page today.  It’s a link to a Youtube video.  I’ve done a lot of the things all along, but it’s a good reminder as I get ready for our June trip to Washington State.

It’s Monday….

I promised myself I’d start writing again today.  I don’t really have a topic, but here goes.  Apparently, I accidentally bought five digital books yesterday.  I know I was looking at them, trying to determine the next one in a series I’ve been reading.  The link I followed led to Amazon.  I checked out each one and decided which one I needed to get from the library next.  I don’t think I actually told it to purchase any of them, but this morning I had a notification that I had bought them all.  I went online and tried to cancel them all.  I’m not sure if it worked.  The money is still showing as pending in my bank account.  Hopefully, it will disappear in a day or two.  Amazon usually processes returns pretty quickly.

In other things, the kids were mostly all in a play at church yesterday.  They all did great, including the ones without a special part. Afterwards there was an all church barbecue.  A great time was had by everyone.  That’s the end of the children’s choir until next fall.  Our Logos program is only when school is in session.  They are glad to be free, but they will also be glad when it starts back in the fall.

School lets out this Wednesday.  Starting Thursday my days will be formless.  I will have no real schedule until school starts back in the fall.  I’m not sure how that will look since the older boys will all be at middle school and the younger kids will still be at their elementary schools.  Since they seem to let out at different times, I should be able to do both.  We’ll see.

In the meantime, I’ll need to find a way to keep myself active.  For the past three summers, I’ve just vegetated, what with Covid restrictions and just general malaise.  This year, I am determined to correct that.  I don’t want to drive into town everyday, but I need to be active every day.  I’m contemplating Yoga and Dance therapy.  I have videos, some of which I paid for and never really used.  This summer I will go back and try to work thru them.

At the moment, I’m thinking two days walking in town and, at least, three days of Yoga or some other type of workout at home.  We meet friends for lunch on Tuesdays, that’ll be one in town day.  The other one may vary depending on outside factors, like shopping.  Probably Thursday or Friday.

Tentatively:  Monday – Yoga, Tuesday – walk, Wednesday – Dance therapy, Thursday – walk or Yoga, Friday  – Pilates or walk, Saturday – Pain free workout.

We’ll see if I can make it stick or need to adjust it somewhat.

Struggling to….

Obviously, I’m not following the old schedule since today is Thursday, not Monday.  I don’t know why I can’t seem to get myself to follow up on my intentions.  I want to get organized.  I recognize the need to get organized.  So, why can’t I get organized?

I find myself thinking I may have late onset ADHD.  I seem to be demonstrating many  of the symptoms:  absent-mindedness, difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, problem paying attention, or short attention span….I wonder if I’ve passed it along to my children and grandchildren.

There are ways of overcoming it though. Recommendations include: let off steam by exercising regularly, find ways to help you relax, such as listening to music or learning breathing exercises for stress. As an attempt to get there, I find I’m already doing some of it.  I try to exercise, just not regularly.  I relax by listening to music and reading.  I understand breathing exercises, I guess I just need to do them more often.  I guess Yoga is an exercise method along with meditation.

I’ve also found an over the counter medication that may be promising although it’s rather expensive.  We’ll see how that goes.

In the meantime.  I’m exercising more regularly and adding other methods of doing it.  With the weather improving, I’ll walk more regularly, I’m working out at home, and I plan to start doing Yoga more.  I have several Yoga videos and I’ll start doing them every other day and see how it goes.  All that will also help get me into better shape for our upcoming roadtrip.

I’m scheduling my writing.  One blog per day on an every other day basis.  This one for progress reports.  The second one for writing on specific subjects or fiction.  The third one with roadtrip planning updates.  Starting next Monday.

I’m scheduling housework.  I just haven’t worked out the schedule yet.  That’s a task for this weekend.  I’ll take all the encouraging thoughts and prayers available.

Scheduling

I recently started writing out menus for the week instead of just fixing whatever comes to mind on the day.  When Chrystal was here to eat with us and use some of the leftovers for lunch, it was a daily thing.  With just the two of us and Jim not really inspired by leftovers, It’s become sort of 3 or 4 days a week with leftovers and salads in between.  I still search online for new recipes to keep inspired.

I’ve been trying to follow my scheduled routine for exercise and added new sessions.  The old schedule called for a few quick stretches and deep knee bends to strengthen my legs once a day.  I’m increasing that to three times a day and adding a Yoga session in the afternoons.  In a couple of weeks, school will be out and I won’t have a framework for activities until the fall.  I need to get into a regular routine to make up for that.  Last summer, I just sat around and I lost a lot of strength and stamina because of it.  I need to be getting that back and adding to it.

I’ve also got to set up a house cleaning schedule.  Before, it was just a random thing whenever I was in the mood.  I’m going to try scheduling it so things get done before they grate on my nerves so much I just need to fix it.  I found a list in my prayer app for Household jobs that I wrote up a while back.  It says update blogs on Monday.  That’s what I’m doing today.  The rest of it may need to be rewritten and copied to my Notebook app.  The old schedule had one thing a day, sort of a different room each day.  I’m thinking that wasn’t very practical, obviously it didn’t really work since I’d forgotten all about it.  I need to come up with something better.
